Adding or Editing Invoice Templates

Create and customise invoice templates, once these are formatted these can sync your customer and bill type invoices through to your linked accounting software. This feature allows you to edit, add, or copy existing templates, allowing you total control of the invoices structure, variables, and content that you can apply to keep your branding consistent. To access your templates, click on your 'Settings' from the user menu panel, find & click on 'Templates'.

Creating an Invoice Template

Once you've accessed your template settings, you can create a new template by:

  1. Clicking 'Create'.
  2. Name your new template as required.
  3. Choose the appropriate Invoice Type from the dropdown.
  4. Finalise by clicking 'Create' where you will be taken to your new template.
  5. Using the buttons at the top you can now edit this template by following the below steps.

Please note: Creating a new invoice template or any template will load the latest version from our system. This will include updates or fixes.


Editing an Invoice Template

Edit a template once you've created it or if you're wanting to edit a previous template, you can use either the search bar or filter column to refine your templates search.


  1. Click into the template you want to edit.
  2. Click on the 'Update' button & you will be taken to the HTML version of your template.
  3. Update the template name if required along with the subject.
  4. Update by adding any of the template variables listed next to the code.
  5. Add any additional text you require (see note below regarding HTML).
  6. Once you've made your changes, click the preview button to review your new template.
  7. Once you're happy with the new template, click 'Save Changes'.

Please note: the body of the template will contain predefined HTML variables. You can adjust these and add more variables and text where required. To add an additional sentences to the template body, you will use the HTML variables at the start and end of the sentence as per the image below.

Copy or Delete a Quote Template

Save yourself time by copying a template and making the adjustments required then saving it with it's new name. Simply click into the template & choose either copy or delete. If you've created a copy of the template, update by following the steps above and renaming as required.

Setting a Default Template

In addition to updating or copying a template, you can also choose to set a default template. It's as easy as clicking the 'Set as Default' button within the template.
